Finished Scarf

The gray scarf is done! Here are some hastily taken photos in the waning light of my hotel room.

This is just BEAUTIFUL! I should know, as I've searched through, I think, 1,000 photos of rigid heddle loom projects over the long weekend. Yours is the prettiest thing I've found! ;) I'm considering buying a Kromski Harp (I'm not a weaver yet, so really I don't know what's well-woven, but I'm still positive yours is!). Thanks for keeping up your blog!

Hi Lori,

I have to tell you--this isn't a rigid heddle project. It's a 4 shaft twill done on a floor loom. If you haven't liked most RH projects, perhaps you need a shaft loom :) I also have a Kromski Harp and love it. You can see one of my favorite RH projects here: http://www.zinniz.com/?cat=30

Good luck with your weaving!
Carrie.

Very nice scarf indeed! How long did it take you to weave this beauty and what yarns did you use?

Hello Gentleman,

The warp was a mix of silver 10/2 tencel, navy 8/2 tencel, and black and white Jaggerspun Zephyr, which is a 50% wool, 50% silk blend at 18/2 weight I think.

The weft is 100% cashmere that I recovered by unraveling a sweater that had unfortunately been attacked by a moth on one sleeve.

It's been quite a while since I worked on this project so I don't recall timings precisely but it probably took somewhere around 12 hours for loom setup, and 8 hours to weave.
